I'm sorry, but I have to close the sign ups at this point. We've reached the limit of the photographers and the location.
Even allowing for the inevitable loss of attendees to travel issues, registration lines, overlong dinners and better offers, we have hit the limit of what 3 photographers can realistically in 90 minutes with an art style that primarily individual and small group (2-3 people) shots.
Group Name: Pin Up Style Heroines Night on the Town
Date and Time: Thursday / 8 - 9:30 pm
Photographers: Paul Cory, Patman and Gun Cat Grace
Character Versions: Character Required, (open to heroes and villains, and comics outside of DC and Marvel) :-)
Location: Sheraton Pool Area (open for discussion)
Directions: Go in the main entrance of the Sheraton, past the check in desk, up the stairs and bear right to the pool.
Back up Location: TBD - the pool area is semi protected from rain, and most of the places we shot this year would unaffected by weather.
Note that time and date and location are open to discussion. Thursday night worked great in 2011 - we practically had the pool area to ourselves. But it is scheduled against the meet and greet at the pulse loft.
This 2011 version of this shoot went really well ( photos in last year's thread start here). We're going to try again this year.
The theme is heroines (villainesses) going out for a night on the town. The idea is to keep in character with the woman you're portraying, but it does not have to be their "battle costume" that you're wearing. Although if you want to come in battle costume, or a slight variation thereof, that's fine. After all, some costumes are pinup ready all on their own (see Poison Ivy, Scarlet Witch).
Some examples of costumes that wouldn't be "battle costume" but would fit with the theme:
Slinky white gown + Blonde wig + blue contact lenses = Emma Frost out to see the theater.
Red dress + red kid gloves + curly brown wig = Wanda ready for a night out dancing.
A red top and blue shorts with black curls could be an incognito Wonder Woman, or an asian dress with a purple wig could be Psylocke.
Feel free to experiment and think outside the box. :-)
Post what Character you'd like to get all pinuppy in!
We'll be shooting it guerilla style: small flashes and modifiers, and using participants as mobile light stands (if you're not in the shot, you'll likely be asked to hold a small flash or reflector). This approach produced some excellent photos and kept hotel security off our backs.
Making It Better
The 2011 shoot went really well. However, I saw one area where it could be improved.
The biggest need is for another photographer to be shooting. Pin up stuff is generally 4 people in a shot at most, and normally a single character. We really need another photographer to keep all the characters involved. We did have another for the 2011 shoot, but I turned him into a boom stand. This made for great photos, but led to too much standing around. That's my mistake, and one that won't be repeated in 2012.
So, somebody sign up as the second photog - you will be shooting pics.
OK we have a second official photographer. Others are welcome, just remember that the official ones have priority.

All are good, but take extra notice of the ones on flickr that are actual photographs - those are real people. Illustrators can sometimes take liberties with what the human body is actually capable of.
